Thoo Lit Ying

Senior Paralegal

Lit Ying completed her degree in law in 2011 and obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2012. She completed her pupillage and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013. She started her legal career in Raslan Long, Shen & Eow, a prominent corporate firm, as an associate in 2013 and became a partner in the same firm in her 5th year in practice. Lit Ying founded Thoo & Partners in 2020. In 2022, Lit Ying was awarded as Associate Fellow and Certified Professional Technology Specialist by the Industry 4.0 Entrepreneurs Association of Malaysia.

Throughout her practice, Lit Ying has represented her clients in various corporate and commercial matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint venture transactions, cross-border transactions, restructuring exercises, shareholders arrangements as well as advising on compliance and regulatory matters. She is also a registered franchise consultant in Malaysia.

Lit Ying is well versed in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese. She can also speak Cantonese and Hokkien.

Acted for the Malaysian sellers in respect of a disposal of shares to a Japanese fund of which the company was valued at RM100 million.
Acted for the Malaysian party in respect of a merger and joint venture with US party in the optics and optronics industry.
Acted for BRF Foods GmbH, one of the largest food companies in the world, in the disposal of its entire shareholdings in FFM Further Processing Sdn Bhd
Acted for the Malaysian sellers in respect of a disposal of business and shares in Unity Kitchen group of companies to a company listed in Singapore.
Handled rights issue and dividend reinvestment plan exercises for listed companies.
Assisted in dividend reinvestment exercise for Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad.
Handled private placement exercise for Ho Hup Construction Company Berhad.
Assisted in the acquisition of shares in Redberry group of companies by VGi Global Media PCL, a company listed in the Stock Exchange of Thailand
